Short-sightedness<\/i><\/b>, or myopia, is where patients can see up close clearly but objects in the distance appear blurred without correction.<\/span><\/p>\n It is caused by the eye being too long or the refractive power of the eye being too strong such that light is focused in front of the retina (see figure).
